Missing Review
A taut thriller with exhilarating twists and turns
I liked Missing a lot. It features a clever teen, a compelling mystery, a fascinating format, and twists that kept me guessing.
In Missing, 18-year-old June (Storm Reid) lives online like most teens these days do. She grieves deeply for her father who died when she was 6 and regularly watches the only video she has of him.
She has a fractured relationship with her mother Grace (Nia Long), who leaves for a weekend holiday to Colombia with her new boyfriend Kevin (Ken Leung). But when June goes to the airport to pick them up, they never show.
This begins a deep dive online to find her mother, where June uncovers conspiracy after conspiracy and the truth itself, all too shocking.
Spoilers ahead.
Reid was great in Missing. She has an earnest, empathetic face that you want to keep watching and hope everything works out for her. Since she helms the movie and mans the screen, this is a critical point.
