of who i really was
palatable, easier to swallow
for the broken & the brave (2020), Kaliane Faye’s third self-published book’s title speaks for itself. The book focuses on the acknowledgment of brokenness, but rising from the ashes and living in spite of those who abuse and take from you.

INTERSTELLAR FLIGHT PRESS: for the broken & the brave is that type of read you can consider a journey. How did you come up with the concept? Were you always aiming for a fantasy theme or did it develop into that?
KALIANE FAYE: it was always meant to be fantasy, a type of dark fairytale where maybe the princess wasn’t so happy or as uhhhh, protected as everyone thought. there was definitely a storyline from the beginning and i have versions of the book where it actually reads more like a novel in verse.
IFP: What was the most challenging part about compiling the poems?
